Based: Meadows Community Centre, Chestnut Close of Beckenham Hill Road, Catford, Lewisham, London, SE6 3PN

Full Time: 37 hours per week

Fixed Term 04/01/2019

Salary: £23,427 - £27,952 plus Outer London Weighting: £1,848

About the programme:

The Academy is part of the Building Hope Programme that is targeted at care leavers, aged 17-25 across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth and Southwark, to support their progression into employment, training and independent living.

The traineeship programme is delivered by Barnardo’s, a national children’s charity in partnership with Barking and Dagenham College and St Gobain, combining accredited and pre-employment training, work experience, personal support and skill development. Dry lining tutoring will be offered by the college.

It will run from the Meadows Centre in Lewisham and will provide young people with the opportunity to gain a Level 2 qualification in Dry Lining and a CSCS Card.  In addition, it will offer young people tuition in key functional skills including Maths and English as well as tailored support designed to increase their employability and support their transition to independence. 

The Role:

Barnardo's Employment Training and Skills (ETS) is launching a Dry Lining Construction Training Centre in Lewisham in partnership with Saint Gobain and Barking and Dagenham College.

You will be responsible for contributing to, devising and developing schemes of work, session plans and resources to meet curriculum requirements to equip young people with the personal social and development skills, functional skills, motivation, confidence and employability skills to progress into and sustain employment and/or further education/training.

The post holder will be responsible for liaising with other Barnardo's services and agencies to access additional supportive services for service users where required.

This role will work to a case load ratio and key performance indicators for qualification achievement, entry into and sustainment of employment/further education/training.
